ADHD & Self-Care
Lunch is beside you, untouched, with the fork still balanced on top. Two hours have passed. Technically, lunch attended.

The Pattern
Absorption or simple busyness can make hunger, thirst, rest, or bathroom needs easier to overlook. External check-ins can help you notice before discomfort becomes the loudest thing in the room.
Basic care can also hide setup steps. A shower may be five minutes of water plus towels, clean clothes, shampoo, and the hairbrush that was definitely here yesterday. Reducing the setup can make the first action easier.
What Actually Helps
- → Keep water and suitable snacks near places where you regularly become absorbed, when safe.
- → Pair a body check with an alarm or regular event: food, water, bathroom, movement, and rest.
- → Prepare the setup early—for example, put the towel and clean clothes where the shower starts.
- → Choose the smallest care action available now instead of waiting until you can complete an ideal routine.
Choose one care task small enough to do now. Lunch has already completed enough waiting.
